Supermarket chain Waitrose has revealed that it is set to create hundreds of new jobs in and around London through new convenience stores.

Waitrose is planning to open at least ten new little Waitrose shops next year, resulting in up to 650 new roles. Plans for the opening of four new convenience shops by the end of this year are going ahead, which will create a further 200 new positions.

Waitrose director of development, Nigel Keen, says, “In what is a challenging time for high streets we are pleased to be in a position to bring forward plans for new investment, which ensures we can continue to build our presence in and around London. Although we are still relatively new to the convenience sector, our opening programme is gathering pace and we are building sales all the time.”
