Synergy Partnership Ltd which supports the home shopping and direct commerce sector via a range of events, publications and awards, has announced promotions for two of its team members as well as made a senior appointment. Unlike the pure-play retail sector, online and catalogue shopping is holding its own in these turbulent times due to efficient centralised operations and lower overheads, which have resulted in even greater demand for the group’s supporting services.
Miri Thomas who has worked for the group for almost ten years has been named Editorial Director which will see her head a team of three who will produce all editorial content. The team remit includes the trade magazine Direct Commerce, e-newsletters CataloguesCatalogues, The Buzz, Cross Atlantic, The ECMOD Multi-Channel Year Book, The ECMOD Show Guide, as well as the high traffic websites for these brands. In addition, James Dart who has successfully completed a trial period as an editorial assistant, is now promoted to a permanent role within the editorial/content team. A further journalist will join this team from January 2012 enabling the development of additional newsletter titles as well as production of content for the CatEx Direct Commerce Association website. The secretariat for CatEx DCA is also operated by the group which has recruited Marc Newland to its team in the role of account manager. In this office based role, Marc will service the requirements of member companies and ensure that all derive optimum benefit from the trade body in areas such as postage & telecoms service savings, specialist training, affinity products, and access to expert advice.
The group has also recruited Richard Jones to the newly created post of Commercial Director which will see him assume responsibility for its business development team and, specifically, Expert Register – a specialist recruitment service for the direct commerce sector. Stuart Martin returns to the business development team in the role of Account Manager, following a three month sabbatical and Monica Carter-Burns has re-joined the group to work with the MD, Jane Revell-Higgins on the development of Expert Register and research against specific client briefs. Finally, long term team member Gillian Sweet takes on new responsibility for the maintenance programme for the group’s centralised database.
Most of the team will be heading for London this coming week for the staging of the 21st Annual ECMOD Direct Commerce Show at the Business Design Centre, Islington. The show which runs on November 30th – December 1st offers a two day conference featuring expert speakers from successful direct commerce & multi-channel businesses combined with an extensive trade exhibition and an awards event for specialist suppliers to the sector.
