New Research Tool For Catalogue and Online Businesses
Tuesday, 18 August 2009
Exclusive new research is helping businesses in the catalogue and online retail community measure and improve their email and website success.
Trade body the Catalogue Exchange has joined forces with Indium Web Management to produce monthly online industry benchmark reports. The initiative, which was launched and achieved wide adoption at the Catalogue Exchange X Factor conference and at its Annual Summit in June, has been warmly received by member businesses.
The aim of this bespoke research is to enable the complilation of an online performance report for Catalogue Exchange member companies, to help them measure their results against the rest of the industry. The key data collected from participating businesses relates to email opening rates, email deliverability, conversion rates and page views per website visit. Whilst most of the findings may only be revealed to member companies, several important statistics that have emerged, can be reported.
Overall, CatEx members who took part averaged a website conversion rate of 4.4 per cent with sites enjoying an average of 11.12 page views per customer visit. The findings of the first report were split into an initial two areas – the fashion sector and others. The fashion sector achieved greater results but experts say a clearer picture will emerge once month by month comparisons can take place.
Jane Revell-Higgins, Managing Director of CatEx Management Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be able to facilitate this ongoing initiative and to provide this valuable information for our membership.”
